Terry, a small town situated roughly halfway between Miles City and Glendive along the Yellowstone River and I-94, some 35 miles northeast of Mils City, is a must-stop for visitors to the area. Here you can visit the Prairie County Museum, housed in the old State Bank of Terry building, which is notably the repository of 19th-century pioneer rancher Evelyn Cameron’s homestead era photographs. The museum also features room displays, artifacts relating to the homestead era, and some of Cameron’s possessions. Open Memorial Day-Labor Day, Wed.-Mon. Call the Terry Chamber of Commerce for current hours. Free admittance. If the museum is closed when you arrive, a board member will open it for you. A list of phone numbers is posted on the door. Terry is also a popular agate hunting site.
