Kolkata Travel Guide

Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, is a loud, bustling metropolis, the third largest in India, with a legacy tied, in turns, to British India, Rabindranath Tagore, and Mother Teresa. It is at once a city rich in British-Indian history and Bengali culture, with monuments and architectural treasures and cultural prowess to show for it, and yet among the most impoverished major cities in the world.

Kolkata is located on the Bay of Bengal in east India in the state of West Bengal, It sits on the banks of the Hoogly River.
