There are only 52 guest rooms and four private villas at the resort. Two were completed in 2004. Because Peter Island was badly damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989, virtually every resort facility that existed at that time was rebuilt and all have been refurbished again in the decade since. The 32 original rooms, called “Ocean View,” are housed in two-story poolside A-frame cottages. Spacious, they have separate bedrooms, sitting areas and full master bathrooms. French doors lead to a private patio or terrace. An additional 20 “Junior Suites” were added in 1984. Deluxe, they are housed in five bi-level bluestone and cedar buildings tucked behind palms and seagrape trees just above Deadman’s Beach. From the windows, guests have spectacular views of the “pirate” islands in the near distance. Here you’ll find Spanish-tiled baths with Jacuzzi tubs for two, oversized showers, comfortable sitting areas and private terraces or balconies. Lower-level rooms have a glass-roofed sun parlor that allows sun to light the two lounge chairs in the room. All guest rooms are air-conditioned and also have ceiling fans. They feature high ceilings, light woods, wicker and rattan, as well as bright, colorful fabrics and wall hangings that make them warm and inviting. Manicured flowering plants and trees encircle all the buildings. The resort’s four exclusive villas are set on hillsides above Spray Bay. The Hawk’s Nest has three bedrooms, four baths, a spacious living room with a media area and a kitchenette that is fully equipped. The large sun deck has a dipping pool. The Crow’s Nest (four bedrooms) and the Falcon’s Nest and Raven’s Nest (each with six bedrooms) have large living rooms, king-size or twin beds, deep soaking bathtubs, separate showers, fully equipped kitchens and dining areas and private swimming pools. The spacious deck and patio areas offer panoramic views of the channel. Saving the best for last, each of these villas has a personal steward/chef and the use of an island rover. They are truly special.
