The “island” park comprises a grassy, 36-acre man-made peninsula, bordering the Ala Wai Canal, created in 1964. There is a lagoon at the tip of the peninsula, with a protected, crescent-shaped sandy beach which has good, safe swimming conditions and a lifeguard, picnic facilities, showers and restrooms.
