One of the best places to stay in Chiang Mai without breaking the bank, south of the city and on the east bank of the Ping River. All 528 spacious rooms with teak furnishings have great views over the river or to the sacred Doi Suthep Mountain.Watch for Internet specials (the best rooms can go for 4,000 Baht in the high season). Three excellent restaurants, each with a different cuisine. Even if you’re not staying here the River Terrance Restaurant is worth visiting at lunchtime when there is an enormous buffet at a very reasonable price. There’s a business and fitness center, swimming pool, beauty salon and the relaxing Vienna Lounge to collapse after a day of sightseeing.
