The neighborhood is sandwiched between the bay and the Puerto Pesquero southwest of the Jardines de Pereda. A walk down the barrio’s Calle Marqués de la Ensenada passes one seafood joint after another, most of which offer a menu del día for 12 Euro or less, as do La Cueva and Casa José The food comes directly from the water via Plaza de la Esperanza, a busy marketplace selling fresh Cantabrian fish and seafood in the city center.
