Fonda del Tozal doesn’t seem to have changed since the place was built in the 16th century. The tavern has white-washed walls, timber ceilings and refurbished antiques that date to the earliest days when it functioned as a meson, or traditional Spanish tavern. While the rooms have been adequately maintained and a pleasant restaurant and bar has been added (on its shelves are articles that have been left behind by travelers through the centuries), they are as austere as one would have found them 300 years ago.
