Since 1879, four generations of the Gioco family have been bringing refined tastes to Verona and Chef Giancarlo Gioco carries on the tradition started by his great grandfather in this historic establishment beside Romeo’s house. Originally a tavern, then an inn, the building’s history likely dates to the 15th century and it has been frequented by luminaries like Gabriele D’Annunzio, Maria Callas and Ernest Hemingway (where didn’t he dine?). The elegant restaurant’s specialty is fish and, with its fine linens, professional service, old-fashioned recipes and historical charm, this is not a place to grab a quick bite and run. Bring your friends and your appetite and savor a delightful meal in good company.
