Heading west out of Orvieto, the SS74 brings you to Castel Giorgio. This town has been occupied since Etruscan times and the territory is dotted with necropoli, but its current form dates from 1477 when the Bishop of Orvieto, Giorgio della Rovere, had the castle built that bears his name. It’s not far from here to Lago di Bolsena in the region of Lazio, where outfits like La Spiaggetta offer pedallo, jet ski, banana boat and parasailing on the lake.
