Bettona is an active agricultural center, but its ancient origins are more visible. The Etruscan “Ipogeo,” a collection of graves discovered alongside the Chiascio River in the Colle suburbs, dates from the second century BC and part of the historical center’s original Etruscan ring of walls interlink with the current medieval stretches. Inside them, the 15th-century Palazzetto Podestarile houses an interesting Pinacoteca Municipale with works from the 14th to 18th centuries by artists such as Perugino, Tiberio di Assisi and Dono Doni, terracottas by the Della Robbia brothers and an archeological collection taken from the Ipogeo.
