An asphalt road (direction Porto Santo Stefano) leads up Monte Argentario past the Convento dei Frati Passionisti, with its great views over Orbetello and the two lagoons, and up to the mountain peak. Paths branching off the island road lead either up the peak or down to bays such as Cala Grande, Cala del Gesso (where there is scuba diving at the underwater grottoes of the island of Argentarola), Cala Piccola (another interesting diving spot around a coral reef), and the long beach of the Spiaggia Lunga. You can arrange diving trips through Cala Galera Diving Center and Diving Club Costa d’Argento or Centro Immersioni Pelagos.
