The Bodrog is a gentle, easy river to canoe and it is perfectly suited for beginners and family excursions. At the same time, its often mist-shrouded banks and romantic countryside is an absolute charm from the water. Running from Sátoraljaújhely, and squeezing itself in between the Hegyalja mountains and the Bodrogköz Hills, it winds down southward to join the Tisza at Tokaj. The length of the run is about 51 km/32 miles and no lifting over is necessary. Although this can easily be a one-day trip, it is probably better to take it slow, take in the country, and rest a day on the way down. There are several campsites and/or guest houses along the way.
