Euro120 to Euro 200 and up to stay in the only five-star hotel in the area, and the first castle hotel in Hungary. It is a place for “royal” pampering, from antique period furniture to underground pools, to interconnecting tunnels between the wings that open out on to indoor water pools. Squash, a tennis court, billiards, and a swimming pool, plus adventures on horseback and in jeeps throughout the surrounding hills. Situated amidst manicured lawns and green forest, the palace was once a part of the royal family estates. Since 1990 it has been back in private hands, operating as a five-star hotel, renovated to reflect its former glory. Several top chefs manage the kitchen. Almost any course is open for discussion, although menu specialties emphasize French and Hungarian. But check on their full-board all-inclusive offers. The hotel makes an effort to treat guests like royalty. You are welcomed by the quartermaster, and a valet takes care of your luggage, and there is no “cleaning woman” – rather, the lady’s maid takes care of things. Obviously, price is not the issue here, only quality, and the “king’s” service. This is a honeymooners’ or a princess’s getaway, perhaps if you want a special treat for your wife, or if you are simply looking for the best accommodations in the mountains of Northern Hungary.
