A pleasant hotel with superb views of the Rhine valley is the Steigenberger Gästehaus Petersberg. It is 20 km (12 miles) from Bonn on the left bank of the Rhine on Peters Mountain. This elegant building was used as the official guesthouse of the government until the capital moved back to Berlin. Rooms are luxurious and stylishly furnished. The restaurant Rheinterrassen serves international cuisine. It is open for dinner only and reservations are recommended. In summer, a bistro serves lighter meals on the terrace with grand views. It is a favorite stopover on several hiking trails.
