The quirky Hôtel de Nesle (pronounced nell) features 20 themed guest rooms, individually decorated with colorful wall murals and names like Notre Dame de Paris, Molière, and a Hammam room completely tiled like a Turkish bathhouse. Some rooms face the hotel’s tiny private garden, and are equipped with a bathtub, shower, or shared facilities in the hall. But that’s where the mod con’s stop. There are no TVs, no phones in the rooms, no elevator and no breakfast service. The backpacking and bohemian clientele come for the artsy atmosphere and prices almost unheard of for the St-Germain-des-Prés district. Reservations by phone only, one week in advance.
