Castaways is a good choice if you want to be on the beach. It’s conveniently located midway between the island’s two largest towns. This hotel comes very close to being a true resort. It’s set in a lush five-acre garden on a gray-sand beach with a dive shop, water sports center, boat dock, beach side bar, tennis court and tour desk. Owner Bill Harris bought the property about 40 years ago and has spent many hours designing, planning and overseeing every aspect of the hotel and grounds. Rooms are large and have balconies, ceiling fans (only six rooms are air-conditioned) and cable TV.
