Sunset Hotel (outside town on the road to Santa Elena Forest,7 rooms, restaurant, full breakfast included). The squeaky-clean Sunset offers motel-like rooms, all with a great view of the sunsets over the Nicoya Peninsula – if the clouds don’t get in the way. It’s an excellent value in Monteverde, set on a knoll with expansive open gardens and nature hiking trails. The hotel’s bright and welcoming rooms contain one queen and one twin bed each, tile floors and bath, table lamp and front sitting porch. The restaurant, open for breakfast and dinner, features German/European cooking with an expansive View from its panoramic windows. Mucho birds and butterflies.
