The Bitter End, which was born as a family retreat, has grown into a destination resort that most captures the water-based culture of the BVI. Guests at this luxurious yet casual stop can choose on-land accommodations in beachfront villas or hillside suites, or they can stay aboard a yacht and still enjoy the hotel’s amenities. Provisioning the yacht is part of the rate. Many opt for a combination of the two. The Bitter End is also home to a full-service marina with 70 moorings and a gourmet provision shop. Here too you’ll find The Bitter End sailing and windsurfing school, Kilbrides Sunchaser Scuba and a first-rate watersports program. There are 85 guest rooms. Beachfront villas resemble West Indian cottages, with sea views and hammocks. They have wraparound verandahs. The suites are on the hillside facing North Sound. They have separate bedrooms and comfortable sitting areas. Furnishings emphasize light wickers, rattans and colorful cotton fabrics. All accommodations have many amenities. The Freedom 30 yachts can sleep six. They can day-sail and return to the resort each night for dinner or can anchor at dive sites around the islands. Hotel facilities include a private beach and swimming pool. The watersports center has over 100 boats for guest use and they offer excursions around North Sound almost daily. They also have sailboards, snorkel gear and kayaks. They offer lessons. There are three restaurants at The Bitter End.
