Palms, at Surf Side Beach Club, South Shore Road, Warwick. An intimate little hotel restaurant, loaded with atmosphere and good cheer. It overlooks a kidney-shaped swimming pool and the ocean beyond. The food is excellent, if a little expensive. Set menus that change daily feature a variety of American and international cuisine and there’s a fairly comprehensive wine list, for fine dining on a small scale. The meals I had there were all presented with style and panache. If they happen to have rack of lamb on the menu, or lamb chops, you can order either one with confidence; mine was the best I’d had in a long time. If you have time for a drink before dinner, you’ll enjoy the cozy little bar adjacent to the restaurant. It, too, overlooks the pool and ocean; very relaxing. The restaurant seats 16 to 20 people, so reservations are a must. I highly recommend it. Dress for dinner is casual smart. Open for dinner daily from 5:30 until 9:30.
