The Tucker House Museum

Continue down Barber’s Alley to Water Street and turn right to Stop 13, The Tucker House Museum, it’s just around the corner on the right side of Water Street. The house, built in 1711, is owned by the Bermuda National Trust and is an encapsulated history of the Tucker family, still an important presence on the islands. Edward “Teddy” Tucker is a diver, treasure hunter and historian of international reputation, and is something of a legend here. In days gone by members of the family have included a Governor of Bermuda, a United States Treasurer, a Confederate Navy Captain and an Episcopal Bishop. The museum is a treasure house filled with antiques, artifacts and memorabilia, including a collection of Bermudian cedar furniture, many fine portraits, and antique silver. In addition, there’s an interesting collection of items that were discovered beneath the cellar floor. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm, April until October, and from 10 am until 4 pm, November through March. Admission is $4.
