Overlooking the small fishing village of Trent Bay are the beautiful Andromeda Gardens. The Gardens were started by Mrs. Iris Bannochie in 1954, on land that had belonged to her family for more than 200 years. She lived with her husband John in the house in the middle of the garden. The garden are named for the legendary Greek goddess Andromeda. Individual gardens are home to collections of tropical plants, including orchids, hibiscus, cactus, bougainvillea and begonias. Many rare plants and hybrids have been obtained from other botanists and personal expeditions to other islands
