The little church of Santa Anna in the village of Noord is a popular place for weddings because of the beautiful light that pours through stained-glass windows into the high-ceilinged sanctuary. Originally constructed in 1766, the building was rebuilt in 1831, 1886, and 1916. You can see a portrait of the last builder, Father Saddelhoff, at the 12th station of the cross. The altar, pulpit, and communion rails are solid oak and were carved in neo-Gothic style by Dutch craftsman, Hendrik van der Geld. The work received high praise when it was displayed at the Vatican Council exhibition of 1870, and Aruba received the masterpiece in 1928.
You may be able to get inside on weekdays, and Catholic mass is held Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 6:30 pm, Saturday at 7 pm, and Sunday at 7:30 am and 6 pm. Look for the church on Caya Francisco D. Figueroa, south of Highway 3A/B, inland from Palm Beach.
