Since the public road ends soon after Grande-Terre, you will have to take a hiking trail around the Pointe d’Enfer to reach Anse Trabaud and Baie des Anglais, two secluded little pieces of paradise that are slowly becoming known to tourists. Since they are along the tip of the island where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic, the wind blows harder and the waves surge higher as you progress farther along the coast. There are no facilities here, but that’s a plus for nature lovers and romantics who prefer their beaches untamed and isolated.
