Grande-Anse, north of Deshaies, is one of the most gorgeous beaches on Guadeloupe, and Le Karacoli the seashell is the best-known restaurant in the area – no doubt because of all the signs advertising its presence. Even without the signs, the restaurant’s reputation has spread widely among divers and tourists who visit this far northwestern coast. Drop by, even if it’s only for a drink. The setting is wonderful and proprietor Lucienne Salcède will make your visit special. Tables on the terrace are shaded by palm trees; you can also dine inside. After lunch, enjoy a swim or take a nap on the beach. Menu items include scallops, stuffed crab, colombo chicken (curry) and other traditional Caribbean dishes, all well prepared.
