Leaving Sainte-Marie, turn inland toward the hamlet of Belair at the sign for La Plantation Grand Café and watch for Distillerie Longueteau on the left. The Longueteau family and their property have a long and interesting history, beginning with the Marquis de Sainte-Marie, who was granted this parcel of land by King Louis XIV. In 1895, heirs of the nobleman lost the lovely estate in a gamble to Paul Henri Longueteau. Take time for a friendly, informal tour of the distillery before you visit the tasting shop. Sampling will take on a new significance after you watch the steam mill and hear about the different methods of harvesting and handling the sugarcane. You can visit Longueteau Rum Distillery weekdays from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am until 1pm.
