Next door, the Museu da Cidáde is not overly impressive but two exhibits are worth examining. The Carnaval exhibit shows the contrasts between Salvador’s Carnaval celebration and the one in Rio. It uses puppets and costumes to illustrate the differences. Another exhibit shows the orixás (gods) that the slaves brought to Brazil as part of Candomblé.
