Originally established in 1884 as the Larkmead Winery, the winery was brought to prominence by champagne master Hanns Kornell in the late 1900s with a string of highly-regarded sparkling wine offerings. In 1993, the winery was acquired by Richard Frank and Koerner Rombauer, present owners, who changed its focus to still wines that debuted under the Frank Family Vineyards label in 2001. The winery now produces small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Merlot, sold primarily at the winery. Sparkling wines in the méthode champenoise are also offered. The winery is housed in one of Napa Valley’s well-known landmarks, a massive stone edifice, which is on the National Register of Historical Places. Tasting and sales daily 10am-5pm; tours by appointment.
