The Traube Tonbach Hotel is one of the most famous in Germany. This luxury hotel is at the end of the road leading up the Tonbach Valley. Rooms are large, with stylish furniture. A large spa area adds to the appeal. In summer, red geraniums lavishly color the balconies. The hotel has four restaurants on site.
Compiling a list of Germany’s best restaurants by combining the ratings of seven gourmet guides, the Schwarzwaldstube here came out on top; the Köhlerstube ranked a creditable 69th. Chef Harald Wohlfard, has kept the Schwarzwaldstube at the top of the league and has been awarded a Michelin three-star rating for several decades.
French food and the chef’s own creations are served in luxurious surroundings. The Köhlerstube has a more country-house style and serves international dishes and nouvelle cuisine. The ambiance in the rustic Bauernstube is more relaxed. Regional specialties are served. All these restaurants have excellent wine lists and service. Reservations are advisable.
