The Bergwelt Schauinslandbahn takes visitors up to near the peak. At 3.6 km (two miles), it is the longest Umlaufbahn cable car in Germany and lifts visitors up 746 m (2,447 feet) in 15 minutes. From the mountain station, it is a short walk to the peak. Lovely views are available from the top. Many walks, scooter rides, and other adventures start from here. The cable car operates daily from May to June, 9 am to 5 pm (6 pm on weekends), from June to September, 9 amto 6 pm, and from October to April, 9:30 am to 5 pm. Round-trips cost Euro 10.20 for adults, Euro 5.60 for children, bicycles, and dogs. Combination tickets with adventures are available. By public transportation, it can be reached from Freiburg on S-Bahn 4; change at Günterstal to Bus line 21.
