There’s no written menu. Jaanchi, the friendly owner, or one of his staff simply come to your table and tell you what the cook is preparing that day. Don’t be surprised if its iguana or snake. Other options usually include some type of fresh fish, chicken, and goat or beef. Portions are large and come with a couple of Antillean side dishes. Jaanchi’s father started the colorful little open-air restaurant in the 1930s, and the place has grown to be a legend and landmark on the far west end of the island. Ask to sit beside a window so you can watch the birds feeding on the patio or building a nest under the roof. On Sundays, local musicians provide entertainment.
