Fénix on the Beach (Playa Sámara,6 rooms, kitchenettes, fans, small pool, beach chairs). Pleasant large rooms equipped with kitchenettes form a U-shape around a darling little pool where the Fénix has risen along the Sámara beach. Internet access for guests. Quiet and comfortable. Ask the owner, Phyllis from Seattle, for specials on long-term stays. To get there, follow the sign along the road south and at the beach, just before you turn left, stop at the grand Mato Palo tree, whose divergent trunk and roots measure at least seven meters/23 feet in diameter. It’s massive and worth visiting from anywhere near Sámara.
