The original Riverside Retreat was just off the Moon Hill road and was Yangshuo’s first countryside hotel. It closed down a few years ago. The local owner, Shelly, has now established this new place, just over the river from Yangshuo, in the same vein, but with far better rooms than the original and wireless Internet throughout. The ground floor rooms are perfectly comfortable but don’t have views, while the higher floors command excellent views and correspondingly higher prices. There is a lovely suite on the third floor which is definitely worth splashing out on and the fourth floor has family rooms. Call Shelly for a pick-up from Yangshuo.
