All-day menu, noon-10 pm (closed Tuesday) This is a charming café is set in the courtyard of an 18th-century Great house, Josiah’s Bay Plantation. The mini-complex also houses an art gallery and a craft store. The food served is light, with many salads offered as main courses. Sandwiches, on homemade bread, include an Asian tuna burger and a lamb gyro. A dish that many diners share is the chickpea and artichoke hummus served with Secret Garden pita. Other entrées include gourmet pizzas, beef sate with peanut sauce, flying fish pie and sautéed snapper with papaya sauce. The desserts, all made here, are fabulous. Peanut butter pie, homemade carrot cake and the frozen chocolate fudge cake are all winners. Josiah’s Bay is on Tortola’s North Shore and on the island’s east end, which is the least-developed part of the island. The road leading here is steep and unlit, so we recommend you come for lunch and then judge for yourself whether you want to deal with a night drive.
