The island’s newest condominium and townhouse development is still under construction. On a 75-acre site at the edge of Spanish Town that formerly housed the Olde Yard Inn, this rising development is both residential and a resort. Encircled by a privacy wall, its grounds are studded with stately old trees as well as newly planted palm trees and colorful gardens. The first 26 units are housed in three low-rise buildings. The apartments are good-size, with first-rate kitchen appliances and luxurious bathroom fixtures. The private terraces face the gardens or pool. Most have been sold. They will be individually decorated and some will be available for rental. The second units are townhouses built on a hillside with views of the sea. There will be 10 units in five buildings. They range from studios to four-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom duplexes. These are slated for completion in 2006. as is an entertainment center. Amenities include an open-air Jacuzzi, swimming pool, two tennis courts, a squash court, a fitness center and a commissary. La Brasserie Bistro, with the same ownership as Giorgio’s Table restaurant, sits at poolside. Olde Yard Village is not near the water so you should consider a rental car. The owners here are very knowledgeable about Virgin Gorda and quite helpful.
