Club Tihany Holiday Center, though rated as a four-star, is not quite up there due to its age and the fact that not all rooms have A/C. But total amenities make the rates extraordinary bargains. Doubles come with a balcony view of the lake for romantic evenings, A/C and halfboard (dinner and breakfast are included). This does qualify as a true resort, with several restaurants(including a disco, a separate brasserie and a nightclub), sports facilities, pools (with poolside restaurant service). There are organized programs for all ages, plus instruction from beginner to advancedin sailing, wind surfing, boating, horseback riding, tennis and archery.
Badacsony Hills hiking excursions with guides can be added on. The rooms have movies in English, as well as other languages, and most of the staff speaks passable English. The staff is superb. There are beauticians, cosmeticians, and massage therapists. Wellness and medical facilities arestaffed with doctors, nurses, and health specialists, who design programs for losing weight, combating fatigue or physical conditioning.
Packages include accommodations and full board, plus doctors’ examinations, spa and pool therapy, massages and other treatments. They are widely known for treating arthritis, and a host of degenerative diseases using medicinal baths, indoor and outdoor pools, salt treatments, saunas and hydrotherapy tanks. For that reason the Tihany attracts virtually every segment of society from every part of Europe. Open all year, but they are often booked up as much as a year in advance. It is advisable to contact and reserve well before your arrival.
