Hajdúszoboszló is a watering place with a Mediterranean atmosphere, popular over more than 70 years for recuperation and relaxation, coupled with entertainment, food, and fun. It has been called the “Mecca of rheumatism patients.” The lido is an 80-acre bathpark complex, surrounded by park-like grounds, with a rowing lake, giant slides, wave pool, Jacuzzi pools, beach volley- ball courts, a 50-m/164-foot swimming pool, adventure currents and showers, waterfalls, and entertainment events during the summer.
Its pools inside follow a Mediterranean motif, with a green glass roof that showers the room and its palm trees, tropical vegetation, and indoor waterfalls, with pastel greens and whites. Restaurants border the shore and a pirate ship and lighthouse sit astride the sandy beaches of the wave pool, sparking the imagination of the kids. Nine rides include the Black Hole and the Crazy River Twister. Programs for revitalization and healing use the thermal waters of the spa, which, at 73°C/163°F, come from a depth of 1,100 m/3,600 feet.
These waters are particularly rich in trace minerals and elements–iodine, bromine, sodium chloride, hydrogen carbonate, as well as titanium, copper, zinc, silver, barium, and vanadium. Dozens of medical treatments are provided by the medical staff, which include acupuncture, inhalation therapies, a salt chamber, mud packs, Jacuzzi, light therapy, and massages.
