Although not in Budapest proper (free flight hot air ballooning is restricted over the city), the office is in Budapest. Hot air balloon flights over the nearby Hungarian countryside start at several points, depending on the wind. Fly over castles and villages of Hungary in the clean refreshing air of the country, landing to a bottle champagne (the custom for all who take their first balloon flight), a certificate of accomplishment, and a lifetime adventure memory. Sup-Air. The company is actually the outlet for the national Hungarian Balloon Pilots Association. Accordingly, its licensed pilots meet some of the most rigorous standards in Europe, explaining its virtually accident-free safety record since it was organized in the 1970s. The pilots are participants in international balloon expos and competitions (including the United States). Almost all speak at least some English. You will be picked up, and taken by mini-van to the launching area from pre-arranged spot. Generally, you will just begin to see the sun rise as the balloon reaches its filled-out form, and you climb into the balloon. The drift into the sky reveals the land of the Huns below, stretching to limitless horizons. The total time is about four hours, from the time preparation begins until the flight ends and you are driven back to your pre-arranged drop-off point. The cost is about US$120 per person, with a three-person minimum, although flights can be arranged for up to 24 people (with appropriate discounts)! For extra kicks you can arrange for special balloons, such as a Budweiser balloon, or others.
