Last stop of Bus 158 at Zugliget út. A campground is directly across from the Libegö base station at the bottom of the hill. Walk a bit farther up from the bus stop and you will pass the American Ambassador’s residence on the right. The lower stop of the chair lift is just after that. Ticket services are up the stairs and inside if you want to take the chair lift to the highest lookout point in Budapest. It’s a fun and not too taxing combination of rides and walking. The walk up the hill at the top may not suitable for toddlers. At the top of the partly paved walkway is a Neo-Gothic lookout tower, the Erzsébet Kilátó (named for the Austro-Hungarian queen of the 19th century). Take your picnic basket, or buy your meal at the büfé at the top of the funicular. It tends to be crowded, but there are plenty of tables and space on the ground for blankets. A candy shop at the lower station entrance supplies potato chips, sodas, and candy bars. Usually a crowd is walking up and/or down the slope, so it is easy to simply follow them up to the tower, which costs 300 HUF at the ticket booth.
