As the manager of a rival hotel said, “Laluna, ahh, ze best!” Open since early 2001, it has quickly established itself as one of the places to stay. The 16 cottages and main buildings are built and furnished in Balinese style. Each room has its own plunge pool, four-poster bed, large deck and is air-conditioned. Among other luxuries are a remote-controled ceiling fan, TV/VCR,CD player and mini-bar. An Italian chef, who is a perfectionist, runs the restaurant. We recommend reserving rooms as early as possible since repeat bookings are rapidly filling the calendar; drawing the rich and famous, perhaps bored with Mustique, Laluna has almost exclusive use of a tiny bay, at the other end of which is the Beach House Restaurant. To get here from Morne Rouge, take the wonderfully named Old Leper Colony Road.
