Ballonhafen Berlin usually starts from Linthe, about 20 km (12 miles) south of Potsdam, but flights are sometimes offered from the Volkspark in Potsdam itself.

Walking Tour Cost: €$8 |
Berlin Walks conducts guided walking tours of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. The six-hour tours depart from Berlin Zoologischer Garten Station, meeting at the Taxi Stand, on Tuesday and Saturday at 10:15 am. From May to September, additional tours are offered on Thursday and Sunday. The tour cost is Euro 15, plus Eruo 5 for the train ticket.

Kayaking |
Spreewald is ideal for paddling. The water is slow-flowing and much of the area is a biosphere reserve closed to motorized boats. Punting boats always have the right of way. A good map is essential to explore the canals off the main flow. Canals marked with a red-white-red sign are off-limits.

In the south of the park are three more royal sights – all three are open mid-May to mid-October, from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Arguably the most interesting is the richly gilded Chinesisches Haus (Chinese Teahouse)shown below.

Bicycling |
A longer, 82-km (50-mile) route follows the Havel from Potsdam to Brandenburg town, passing several more palaces. Most of this route is on dedicated bicycle tracks. Bicycles can be rented at the main station from Cityrad Radstation Potsdam.
