AutobusOberbayern operates city tours as well as daytrips to several destinations near Munich, including Rothenburg, Herrenchiemsee, Berchtesgaden, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. A particularly popular tour that departs daily at 8:30 am is to Schloss Neuschwanstein and Schloss Linderhof–using public transportation, it is virtually impossible to do both on the same day.

Campingplatz Nord-West is about two km (1.2 mile) from the Olympiagelände and convenient to both public transportation and Autobahns. There are many shady spots and three lakes for swimming within 800 m (half a mile). It is open year-round.

Adventure Sports

Inline skating is popular in Munich, with many parks and the banks of the Isar River open to skaters. On Monday nights from May to August, Münchner Bladenights allow you to skate through the streets of Munich.

It claims to be the biggest skating event in Europe. Information on routes is available from Green City. de. The party starts at 7 pm, the actual skating is from 9 to 10:30 pm.

Sightseeing

Hans Holzmann, operates the only horse-drawn carriage in Munich. Trips from half an hour to two hours are possible daily in the afternoon from the Chinesischer Turm in the heart of the Englischer Garten. Prices are from Euro 31 per half-hour for four to five persons.

Kapuzinerhölzl-The Tent has been in operation for 30 years. It is a campground for tents only but is best known for its large communal tent for backpackers and youth groups without camping equipment. The quiet location is in a park near Schloss Nymphenburg, but the Hauptbahnhof can be reached in 15 minutes by tram. Sleeping space in the big tent goes for Euro 10. It is open from June to August.
