For longterm stays of a week or more, there’s no better way to save time and money than to stay in an “Apartotel,” a hotel consisting of various size apartments. We once stayed here at Villas del Río for a week and used the kitchen quite a bit, plus the separate sitting room to read or watch cable TV.
And staying in one spot in a large apartment allowed us to feel as if we were coming “home” each evening after our day-trips. It’s especially good for a family or two or more couples. A comfortable base.

The quaint Edelweiss hotel resembles an Alpine chalet. It’s pale green, with diamond-shaped white window grills and custom-designed furniture inside. It sits on a somewhat busy corner in the Otoya Barrio. Though no one wears lederhosen or sings, “The hills are alive, with the sound of music...” the atmosphere is appealingly European.
