Don’t miss this totally Aruban experience. More bar than restaurant, the funky interior is decorated with more than 60 years of memorabilia collected from customers by Charlie, the Dutch sailor who opened the hangout in 1941, and his son, Charles Brouns III (just call him Charlie), the current proprietor. The food is good, but not worth a special trip from the hotel district. Stop in for lunch or a snack and ice-cold beer when you tour the southern end of the island. Sit at the bar and chat with the bartenders, who will fill you in on all the latest gossip and tell you fantastic stories about Charlie’s part in Aruba’s wild past.
